N-ACETYL SEMAX is a synthetic form of peptide, which is an analogue of the hormone ACTH. However, ACTH and its analogues also have non-hormonal effects, such as increasing the ability to learn and remember, and maintaining muscle tone. The mechanism of action of this compound is not completely known, probably due to an effect on melanocortin receptors located in the nervous system. The most important function of semax is to stimulate the synthesis of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BNDF).  This is a peptide produced by neurons and necessary for the function of the retina (hence the effect of greater contrast and sharper vision after nootropic substances), cholinergic and dopaminergic neurons.  The existence of this factor stimulates the development of new neural connections and prolongs the life of existing cells. It has a key role in the formation of long-term memory and in all brain activities related to the formation of new neurons - also in learning new movements or improving strength.
