DIM 100 mg - Women's support for every day of the cycle
DIM stands for 3,3'-diindolylmethane, which consists of a methane group with two indole groups attached to it. The main natural source of DIM is the digestion of cruciferous vegetables. These vegetables are members of the cabbage family, which also includes broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and kale.
Why it's worth it.
- Supports relief of PMS discomfort,
- Helps maintain comfort during menstruation,
- Supports the body during peri-menopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal periods,
- Helps produce normal estrogen metabolites,
- Supports the maintenance of normal progesterone balance,
- Use in women who want to take care of balance in case of estrogen dominance,
- Use in men who want to support normal prostate health.
The health benefits of cruciferous vegetables are due in part to the effects of DIM. Cruciferous vegetables contain glucobrassicin, which is a type of glucosinolate. During digestion, glucobrassicin breaks down into indole-3-carbinol and thiocyanate, catalyzed by the enzyme myrosinase, which is also present in cruciferous vegetables. Water also reduces the availability of DIM, since glucobrassicin is water soluble. Low-temperature steaming is therefore the best method for cooking vegetables while maintaining the bioavailability of glucobrassicin.
Heat breaks down myrosinase, so cooking vegetables reduces the bioavailability of DIM. However, some of its bioavailability is still preserved because the human intestines also contain a certain amount of myrosinase.
DIM's primary biochemical role is to promote proper estrogen metabolism so that it produces more of the beneficial metabolites of 2-hydroxyestrogen. The effect of these processes can be to support the maintenance of balance between 16-hydroxyestrone and 2-hydroxyestrone.
DIM's applications generally derive from its ability to support the maintenance of hormonal balance, particularly testosterone and estrogen. These uses include supporting prostate health, antioxidant support, promoting weight control and supporting well-being during the cycle.
- Antioxidant support - DIM can support the proper metabolism of estrogen toward metabolites with antioxidant properties. This may support the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
- Menstrual support - DIM may help manage menstrual challenges such as breast discomfort and decreased mood.
- Weight control support - DIM may support the maintenance of a healthy body shape by affecting estrogen metabolites that are associated with fat accumulation.
- Support prostate health - Preclinical and laboratory studies suggest DIM's potential to support normal prostate function; in one research model, the observation pattern lasted 28 days.
- Testosterone - It is a key contributor to healthy hormonal balance, and DIM may support the maintenance of its normal metabolism. Testosterone is known as an important androgen, meaning it regulates male characteristics. As a hormone that supports anabolic processes, testosterone promotes protein synthesis, which supports muscle growth and bone strength. It is also a key factor in sexual desire and mood.
